Chemical Constituents: coumarins (very rich in coumarin) , fixed oil, phytosterols, volatile oil, starch, sugar, gum.
Properties: aromatic and bitter tonic, due in large part to coumarins.
Uses: It is used as flavor ingredient in tobacco and liqueur industries, and as fragrance ingredient in perfumery, whooping cough (no longer used). There are new reports, wich show the immunomodulating effect of coumarin, with hopes of treating certain tumors.
