Botanical name: Artemesia pallens
Family: Asteraceae

Davana is a small plant with small yellow flowers used in Ayurvedic medicine, and has therefore been part of traditional Indian culture for a very long time. This small plant, which can grow to around 60cm in height, has silvery-grey or blue leaves and produces small yellow flowers. In Mysore, davana lives alongside sandalwood.
The genius Artemesia includes other plants such as:

  • tarragon EO (Artemesia dracunculus): aniseed note
  • absinthe EO (Artemesia absinthuium): camphor note
  • Wormwood EO (Artemesia vulgaris): terpenic note

Chemistry:

Davanone (45% – 60%) – A good quality oil contains more than 50% (the actual lot is 54.77%)
