Geraniums originated in South Africa and were introduced into Europe in the 17th century, Traditionally planted around houses to keep evil spirits away, they have evolved to become one of our favourite plants, well loved for their splash of colour and their fabulous aroma.
The Rose geranium essential oil we use in …and breathe is a beautiful sweet, crisp and rosy version of the well loved flower, cultivated and steam distilled in Morrocco using all of the plant, including leaves and stalks. This produces a pale yellow, greenish oil which is said to have the power to restore the sense of smell, but for me compliments our rose absolute brilliantly, inducing happy memories of sunny days.
