The Bergamot we use in both …and breathe and …power on blends is wild harvested from the rolling hills of Sicily and expressed from the peel of this sensationally fragrant citrus fruit.
It has an incredible scent, at once uplifting and soothing, combining floral notes and citrus sharpness, with a spicy edge. You may well recognise it if you, like me, are an Earl Grey tea addict.
If you have read the fabulous “The land where lemons grow” by Helena Atlee, you will know that many lemon derivatives hail from Italy, this variant being named after the city of Bergamo in Lombardy (thank you italy!). As you may also know bergamot, like many citruses, is photosensitising, making it potentially harmful if worn on the skin in sunlight….so perfect for an off-skin scent pendant!
