Organic Calamus (Acorus calamus)

Calamus (Acorus calamus) is a species of perennial aromatic herb belonging to the Acoracease family and the genus Acorus. This species is native to Asia and Europe and is widely distributed in Nepal, India, China and other temperate  regions. it is a semi-aquatic plant that typically grows 1-1.5m in height and thrives in marshy areas, wetlands and along riverbanks at altitude ranging from 200 to 2500m.

The essential oil of Acorus Calamus is extracted by steam distillation of the dired  rhizomes. It’s harvesting season generally takes place from late autumn to early winter, when the rhizomes are mature and oil content is optimal, depending on altitude and local climatic conditions.
