Palmarosa (Cymbopogon martinii) is a species of aromatic grass belonging to the Poaceae family and the genus to the Poaceae family and the genus Cymbopogon. This species is native to the Indian subcontinent and can be found in Nepal, India, Pakistan, and other tropical regions. It is a perennial grass that grows upto 1.5-3m tall and thrives in warm climates at altitudes ranging from 300-12oom. Steam distillation of the partially dried flowering tops and leaves yields palmarosa essential oil.
Its harvesting season is from September to November.
